Hello everyone! I have two free-roam bunnies named Bugsy and Baloo (both spayed/neutered). I have had Bugsy for two years now and her litter box habits were basically perfect from the moment I brought her home. Two months ago I adopted Baloo to be Bugsy’s companion and they immediately hit it off, the bonding process was easy peasy and they are so in love! However, Baloo is now causing MAJOR litter box problems. He poops and pees everywhere, which is causing Bugsy to poop on top to claim the area is also hers lol. It’s gotten so bad that I have been confining both of them to our walk-in closet at night, and I wake up to hundreds (literally) of poops and Baloo’s pee sprayed all over the walls. How do I fix this problem?!?! My boyfriend is starting to get very irritated.

I was thinking of maybe just keeping Baloo in the closet 24/7 until his litter box habits improve, but I have heard that separating them can be stressful. What should I do?

You should not separate them since they are now bonded. It could disrupt the bond, and the marking would probably start again once she was there.

I’m thinking all the marking is due to them being a very new bond. Usually things settle down with time… Are you 100% sure they are fully bonded?

I wonder if you could clean the area super well with white vinegar to neutralize any smells, and see if that helps?
