        Hi

I got my bunny Khushi neutered 2 weeks ago. Before the procedure he was already litter training, but occasionally peeing on the couch. We thought he was marking his territory. He won’t pee anywhere else in the house.

After the procedure yesterday he proceeded to coming to the corner of the couch where I was sitting and peeing on me. And this morning he peed in the same corner of the couch and doing a lot of poops on the couch as well. Again he won’t do this anywhere else in the house besides the couch and litter box…

We thought neutering would fix the peeing issue, but apparently it hasn’t. Is there any advice on getting him to stop?

I’d suggest thoroughly cleaning the couch with pet safe cleaners to get all residual pee smells off. However, some buns just can’t be allowed on couches or beds because they will pee no matter what you do.

It also hasn’t been very long after his neuter, people usually say about 4-6 weeks for all the hormones to fully go away. You might just have to give it some more time.

Agree with Bu. They will go through what is called the post neuter craze for a month or longer where hormones fluctuate wildly before leveling out. Hormonal behaviors can actually get worse during this time. There’s not much to do but wait it out. 🙂

Fixed rabbits can definitely still pee and poop outside the litter box, especially on couches and beds, which are attractive places for them to mark. Wait it out, and if it doesn’t improve, you may need to forbid him from being on the couch for long periods of time. Or put a litter box up there.

I have a neutered bun, and I have to pen my couch. I keep trying to re-introduce it as it would make life easier, but so far he just seems to go crazy on there. He is fine on arm chair and bed, I have tried all the advice I read here and elsewhere. If I ever figure it out I will be happy share, but just letting you know it may just be your couch and bun may need to live separately.
