Hi everyone! I’m going down to the feed store tomorrow and Bernard is almost out of litter. I’ve seen they have wood chips for pretty cheap and I’ve heard people say it works for litter boxes. Has anyone used it before? Also, are there any woods that they can’t have? On other websites I thought I seen some say pine is good and some say it’s bad.

Also, I though her hay would last her until tomorrow but now I don’t think she has enough for the night. Of course now is when she decides to be good about eating a lot of hay! I have some compressed hay blocks that we used to catch her. Would it be ok to give it to her just for tonight? I’ve read some bad things about them but I’m assuming just for tonight is ok? Thank you for reading 😊

You should avoid pine shavings (and cedar), but aspen shavings/chips are commonly used and safe. Pine pellets are also safe because the pelleting process removes the aromatic compounds in pine that cause issues. I use pine pellets sold as horse stall bedding, they are really affordable ($9 for 40 lb) and work great.

Hay blocks would be better than nothing, so I would prob give her a few to tide her over for the night if you think she will run out of hay.

Agree with Dana, horse stall pellets all the way! 😀
