I noticed this when she started shedding a couple weeks ago. I can’t tell if it’s just the hair coming out so it looks like a bump. I’ll try my best to describe what it feels like: If I were to pet her starting with her nose, it’s level with her nose and when it gets a little before in between her eyes, it dips in, turning into her forehead. I know I probably described that weird. But I was just at the vet last week for an unrelated issue and though I forgot to mention it, the vet didn’t say anything about it and she said Bernard is very healthy (apart from her eye) Sorry, this May be a stupid question but I can’t remember there’s supposed to be a bump there.

It’s not a stupid question, of course! A bun’s skull has various grooves and ridges, so maybe its just her normal bone structure you are feeling? Both sides of the head should feel roughly the same. Weird molt lines will appear on buns when they shed, but are more easily recognized as molt lines in buns that have different colors of gurd hair and wool. With an all white bun, its less easy to tell, but there will still be visibly uneven shedding/regrowth of hair.

I’m think this is sth normal you are feeling, but here are some pointers about lumps:

Bad lumps tend to grow in size, so thats one thing to keep an eye on. Try to make an rather precise estimate of its size if you can’t measure it, and write down your finding. (This is because its impossible to remember and its so annoying to wonder if its gotten bigger or if its just your imagination. Been there!)

Is the lump hard or soft? Can it be moved? Does she react with a pain response when you touch it? Obviously check for seepage etc.

It is good to give your bun head rubs to familiarise yourself with the shape of the skull, its obviously varies a bit between  different buns. That way you’ll notice if sth some day suddenly isn’t right. Buns also tend to really like head rubs.

I think it’s probably her normal skull and the molt makes it look like a bump. It’s hard and can’t be moved. It doesn’t seem to hurt her when I touch it but she does get pretty annoyed if I constantly touch it

Thanks for all the info on lumps though! I’m definitely going to measure it just in case.

I had been petting her everyday even though she doesn’t really like it yet. But I moved her area so she could have more space and I was letting her get adjusted before I annoyed her with more pets. And because it was a few weeks, I couldn’t remember if it had always been there 😆

It does sound like its probably her normal hed shape! It can take quite a while for a bun to start to relax and really enjoy being pet, but once they do, there’s no turning back. It’s not rare for a bun to disapprove if you stop petting too soon, and some will give a little nip to remind you who decides when cuddle time is over 😄

I can’t wait until she decides she likes to be pet! Right now I think she’s starting to like me, but mostly as the person who brings her food 😆

Well, the way to the bun’s heart goes through the stomach 😄 💗

Oh she looks so sweet in that picture! I wouldn’t worry because I had that exact same thing a month or so ago when Tybalt was going through his first big molt, the side view of him was so funny because of the dips and curves on his small face but it’s all gone now 🙂

Good to know she’s not the only one that looks a little rough when molting 😂
