How many times a day should they be eating cecotropes?

  Hi guys! I was curious about this because my girl eats hers multiple times a day, yet I’ve heard they usually eat them at night? How often do they eat their cecotropes? Is multiple times a day bad?

  They can eat them throughout the day. Nothing wrong with that.

  They can absolutely eat their cecotropes, which you have spelled correctly, at any time, really. Cecotropes used to be called night droppings, but rabbits definitely often eat them during the day as well. There’s a neuronal signal that alerts the bun when a cecotrope is on the way, and the bun responds by reaching down and eating the emerging cecotrope. This is all fine, healthy and great 🙂

  Yeah, Starlight eats them quite often. Usually afternoon and when I’m sleeping. So yes I’d say multiple times is normal.
