I left out this bag of Timothy hay we just bought and Muffin decided to chew a hole to get in it. I pulled him away and put fresh hay in his litter box so he started eating that instead. Is he gonna be okay? Last time it was tape that he ate. Now plastic from the hay bag… I’m gonna see if I can put the bag into the cardboard box from the last box of hay to protect it.

With a piece that small, it is probably fine! Just monitor if there’s anything unusual, like no appetite or pooping.

Thank you Wick! I managed to fit it in the cardboard box, so should be safe away from him now.

From the last 8 or so years of having buns I found their digestive tracks quite resilient.

This is probably going to make me sound like a terrible bun parent but mine have nibbled the corners off foam Matts I get for their feet, a couple bags similar to the hay bags and a couple wires and base boards.

Of course we stopped it the second we caught it but giving them fresh hay, water and monitoring poops  like wick said is the way to go. If you get worried about not seeing them eat hay for awhile I sometimes massage the sides of my dwarf bun gently while petting her, As well as hand feed her some hay if she’s stubborn.

Thank you! Yeah I get it, it can be hard to keep them away from the things they shouldn’t get into. He’s still been eating hay, veggies, and pellets. So I think he’s okay now. 🙂
