        Hi all,

Sorry for no introduction but I have a rabbit named Pepsi and tonight she knocked over her treat jar and decided to eat treats as well as possibly a piece of glass.

While I know she ate some treats, I also am afraid she ate a shard of glass as she was chewing loudly and it wasn’t like normal. She did not let me grab it out of her mouth either as she thought it was most likely a treat(it felt hard to me). I have fed her critical care as well as her greens for the night, hopefully allowing it to pass through her digestion. She is acting normally and eating normally so far. I know rabbits digestion takes about 20 hours (google says) so I do not think I will know if anything is wrong until tmw night? Is there anything else you all would do? I cannot take her to an emergency vet at the moment either.

If it was a tiny shard, even taking to the emergency vet probably won’t do much good since they wouldn’t be able to really find it. On the plus side, rabbits are really good at grinding things down before they swallow them, so there’s a chance it’ll just come out as usual.

I would continue to monitor and if you see anything change, such as signs of pain, discomfort, etc., then take more consideration and action to set-up a vet visit. I would also encourage water (maybe give some wet veggies) and hay consumption.
