I left the room for a few minutes and came back and Muffin had a piece of blue painters tape in his mouth. It’s from when I taped down the plastic shower curtain that protects my floor. I took it out and it got stuck to the fur on his chin as I was doing it 😣. I got it out but he ate like a few centimetres of it. I’m worried it will get stuck somewhere in him? My dad said he should be fine since tape stops sticking when it gets wet (bunny saliva). I took the rest of the tape away from him. I didn’t think he would bother with it or could reach it. Has this happened to any of you before? Is he fine or should I get him checked out by a vet? The bunnies are going to go to the vet when I can get them an appointment anyway, since I just got them and I need to get them set up for annual check ups. But I’m not sure when the appointment will be. Thanks.

We have had tape-eating buns here before. Rabbits can, as most pets, eats the strangerst things, but a good thing about rabbits is that they tend to chew what they eat very well. When the tape lands in the bunny tum it is no longer in the shape of tape.

The best thing is to try and encourage him to eat hay (hand feeding can inspire a bun to eat more hay, scattering hay around his area can help too. Found hay often trumps given hay!)

Hydration is important too. If your bun gets fresh greens, serve them dripping wet.

Keep an eye on him, if he stops eating sth isn’t right. I’m pretty confident he will be fine though.

@Bam Thank you so much! He had already eaten his salad for the day but ate his pellets after the tape. I’ve seen him eating hay today but I’ll put more in just to make sure. Good to know other buns have survived eating tape. 😓

Louie accidentally ate a tiny piece of tape when I wasn’t looking, so I just fed him soggy veggies and he was fine.

I just gave him a few more veggies with water on them, he’s eating them all. Hopefully he’s okay.

just make sure he’s eating and pooping. After a day if he’s fine I’m sure you’re good.
