Hello, I just found this bunny but I’ve never had one before. Anyone can tell me what kind of bunny it is? And how can I know if it’s female or male? Also, he is dirty and with few pee stains, I tried to clean him with a damp cloth but didn’t work at all, any recommendations ? And last, it has a few fleas but I can’t find anything in store for rabbits, how do I eliminate them? Thank you 😊

Firstly, I would like to thank you for adopting this adorable little guy. 🙂 My money is on him being a he, for I don’t see fur around his neck, which females often have, for when a rabbit gets pregnant, she uses the fur there for her nest. It is highly recommended though to get a bun spayed/neutered, for they get aggressive when they reach puberty and are not that fun to be around. They can also have a high risk of uterine or testicular cancer.

Rabbits are very nice companions, so I am sure you and he will form a bond with each other in no time. You sound like a very good-hearted person, which a lot of bunnies are attracted to. 🙂 He doesn’t seem like the timid type, hopping all over the place already, and those buns tend to have quicker bonds with their ‘hoomin’ friends. 😉

I’m sorry I do not have information on your other questions, I just wanted to drop by and share what I know, and to say thank you for rescuing him. 🙂 Other members have more experience with those areas, I’m sure you’ll have a healthy and happy bun in no time. Please keep us posted! 🙂

Thank you for saving him/her! 🙂

It’s a little hard to tell but I wanna say the fur looks a little rexish? So I’m gonna go with Rex or Rex mix for now. Are the whiskers curly?

If the fur is urine stained, there isn’t much you can do other than wait for her to shed.

I agree with Hazel, he looks like a rex. Broken pattern is common in that breed.

If bunny will let you hold him, you can check down there. If testicles are present (bumps above the genitals on the abdomen), then it’s pretty obvious you have a boy. But the absence of testicles does not guarantee he is not a boy. 😉  If you can’t get a good look down there without causing stress, then it’s best to have a vet do it. You should take him to a vet anyway to make sure he’s OK. If he’s been outside, he could have fleas, mites, parasites, etc.

And yes, not much can be done for pee stained feet. You just have to wait for it to be shed naturally.

Please note that there are flea remedies that are toxic to rabbits. The compound you most definitely want to avoid using anywhere near rabbits is Fipronil. It’s deadly toxic to rabbits. It’s sold as Frontline and Sentry and has several other market names.

Thank you for your responses! He’s definitely not shy at all, he likes to hop everywhere and definitely likes to be pet. 🤗

I’ll take him to the vet soon to check everything’s ok. And yes his whiskers are really curl.

I reckon you got yourself a little Rex then. 🙂  Did you just randomly find him outside?

Awesome! Yes, he was on my front yard. My stepfather approached him with a carrot and he just came and ate it and he grabbed him. He is really calm and docile and he likes to run a lot 😀
