Wally spent the night at the hospital last night with stasis. He is now eating and pooping. He took cisapride this morning around 7 any I picked him up with instructions to give him meds again at 7 pm (cisapride and metacam). He was very excited when he first got home and checked out every single one of his belongings and now he’s over there cuddling with his brother. He ate some hay, pellets and salad since returning. I noticed a wet spot by his tail and after checking him more closely he has some poo in his hair. We cleaned it as best we could with a washcloth but it was actually pretty dry so has been there for a little while. Could cisapride cause some of his poos to have been wet? He had a very stressful 2 days so could the car ride home have stressed him enough to cause it? Could it just be the result of his intestines starting up again?
I did call the vet but the exotic specialist is not in right now and the other vet just said to watch his poo and call if any more is extremely wet or runny. He just made one turd which was slightly small but well formed and a little damp. I’m just trying to figure out how concerned I should be about that. He’s now over there eating some hay.
Edit: I found a few other fresh turds that are also well formed and only slightly damp. I gave him his night metacam and cisapride and he is still muching hay. It’s been about 10 minutes. He keeps kind of half squatting like he’s thinking about pooping so I’m not sure if maybe he just needs the pain meds to kick in, like maybe his tum was starting to hurt.
