I got Pinky and Muffin last week on Sunday. They were neutered the week before that. I just let them out last night for the first time to release some energy they had. They were curious and hopped around. They both got about 10 minutes each because I wanted to go to sleep after. I covered the others pen when the other bun was out. When they went back in I took the covers off and then they were biting the bars and Pinky was pushing the front of his x pen really hard and biting his blanket. He just did it again now and this morning when I uncovered them (I put blankets over the pens so they would stop the bar biting and pushing). I woke up this morning and Pinky pooped a TON outside of his cage. I have cardboard down on the floor because he chews the blanket. But he pushes the pen forward and chews the blanket that the x pen was on top of. He usually mostly poops in his litter box but also anywhere he wants, but this morning there was a lot more poop everywhere. Maybe because I let him out after Muffin and he smelled his scent on the floor? I also just cleaned their pens and came back in and he had peed in the corner, same place that he peed when my cat came in one time. Luckily it was mostly on the cardboard so I ripped that part off and put it in the litter box. But why is he pooping everywhere a ton and now peeing in the corner? And how do I stop him from pushing the front panel of the pen and biting the blanket? He’s chewed holes in all of them even though I try to cover up the places he chews. Pinky is about a year and five months old. Muffin is about five years old. Pinky is quite the troublemaker!

Ouch! Sounds like Pinky is going to be giving you a LOT of trouble! I’m guessing that the poop and pee were because he smelled Muffin, and the cage biting was because he wanted more time outside. You said he was neutered about two weeks ago? It takes around a month for hormones to officially drain out, so hopefully, he will settle down then.

You did everything I would have done, covering his pen with a towel, I don’t see why that didn’t work though. Maybe you could try extending his pen just an ft more, and cover the rest? See if that does anything? I have to say, this is quite the intense poo and pee wars, with mine, it was just ‘oh, there’s pee, better go pee on it’ not ‘I need to patrol my area and guard it against ANY intruders’ well, a bit of that too, somedays I was washing the entire pen, for SOMEONE (I’m looking at you, Silver) peed all over their x-pen. As I said though, I have my fingers crossed that this all drains out of him in a few weeks.

          Keep us posted!

@HipHopBunny Thank you! Yeah maybe it will get better once their hormones cool down. I’ll see if I can expand it a bit. But that might just give him more space to poop in lol. Once I rabbit proof more, they’ll be allowed out longer. They got the taste of freedom and wanted more!

@Moonlightbunny66 LOL 😆 They sure do, don’t they? It might give him more space to poop in, but hopefully, that will stop the scratching. Keep us posted!

@HipHopBunny I will! Yeah maybe. I tried making him a dig box today and he played with it but also peed in it… Maybe I’ll try to just give him more space lol. Thank you. 🙂

They were both neutered recently, which means their hormones are probably all over the place right now. Plus you gave them each a taste of freedom and then took it away. You were asking for it! LOL
