I got two buns last Sunday from the same rescue. I’m planning on prebonding them in a couple weeks. Right now they are housed next to each other in separate x pens. There’s a blanket covering and a cardboard box in between them. They can’t see each other. But they are usually doing the same things at the same time: laying the same way, drinking water, sitting in the litter box, playing, sleeping. Some of those things could be because I have them on the same schedule, I just think it’s weird and funny that the lay the same way at the same time. I’ve heard that they do this when they start bonding, but they can’t see each other. It’s kinda funny to me. I thought I had a photo of them laying the same way, but I couldn’t find it. I’ll try to take one the next time they do it. But here’s a photo of them drinking water. It’s bad quality because it’s a screenshot my bf took when I showed him on video call. There’s also a carrier there because I put them in while I clean their pens.

That is very interesting. Shows they have similar tastes 😛 I haven’t heard of two rabbits doing everything at the same time. Sounds like they will get along great. 🙂

Rabbits have synchronized grooming (instead of synchronized swimming). 😛

So cute! I notice with mine that I think they hear the other rabbit doing something (like eating hay) and think, “hmm that’s a good idea!”

@HipHopBunny I really do hope they get along! 🙂

Yeah I guess they do LOL

@DanaNM Yeah that could be it… But the laying down the same way is still weird lol!

How wonderful! They do of course communicate via scents, to an extent that we dont really have the capacity to understand with our, comparatively blunt sense of smell. It’s so interesting!

@Bam Yes that is interesting… 🤔 Maybe this means they will get along decently?

As part of our after spay/neuter days (my lops had their surgeries on the same day), their separate areas were set up as mirror images (close but still allowing for no contact).  They continued to do everything “together”.  Once they were healed and hormones dissipated, we crossed our fingers and held our breath as they were reintroduced.  They immediately groomed each other and played together.  Their bond was never broken.

@JackRabbit Awwww that’s adorable! They must really love each other. Mine were also neutered on the same day. But they hadn’t really been together other than staying at the same animal rescue, then taken to the vet for the surgeries together. Maybe mine secretly like each other lol. The only time they’ve been in contact (that I know of) was the other day when I was letting Pinky back into his x pen, he snuck over to Muffin’s pen and sniffed his nose… He’s a curious little bun. Then I noticed him and I made him go back in his pen before either one got irritated lol. I hope mine will have a great bond like yours someday! 🙂
