        Hi!

So the other day my dad cut a couple branches off one of our mulberry trees that was hanging too low. I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to dry a bunch for my future rabbit to enjoy. So I was wondering if it’s safe for rabbits to be given mulberry leaves and branches. Is there anything I have to do to them before they’re given or can they be given fresh and dry?

        Thanks!

yes mulberry is safe! they’ll love to strip the bark and eat the leaves. if you’re worried, you can rinse and bake the branches to sterilize them.

Okay thanks! I think I’ll just give em a good rinse and let them air dry. Is that okay?

rinse with as hot of water as you can stand and i would imagine it’d be fine! make sure to put them somewhere where theyll dry quickly, though, or they may get moldy. if youre somewhere where summers are hot, letting them dry in the sun is a good way to ensure they don’t stay wet long enough to mold.

Okay thanks! We’ve been having lots of rain so if the forecast looks good I’ll lay them out on a backing sheet.

Also just curious- do I have to limit the amount I give or are they fine to have as much as they want as long as they keep eating enough hay?
