I got my two buns on Sunday and Pinky is shedding a lot. Lots of fur sticking to his blanket so I changed it today. There’s some tuffs of fur sticking up on his back if you can see on the top. He doesn’t fully trust me yet so I don’t want to brush him too soon. Its not that bad but I don’t want him ingesting too much fur. Is it okay if I wait a few weeks so he’s more comfortable with me? Also, when I do brush him, should I cover his face with a towel? I see people do that to calm them down. My other bun also keeps licking his blanket, doesn’t chew it a lot like Pinky does sometimes. Does that mean he’s content? I’ll just be laying in bed watching him or I sit in front of his pen to watch him and he licks it lol.

I think it would be OK and prob a good idea to groom. I did this with Bonnie and Myra when they first came home because they were molting badly. I would just pop them on the table and do a really deep grooming about once a week. You can give some treats during and after and all should be forgiven. 🙂

If he is very food motivated, you also might be able to groom a bit while he eats his pellets. I had a bun that was so crazy for pellets you could pretty much do anything to him while he was eating. LOL

@DanaNM Thank you! I keep seeing him getting fur stuck to his nose when he stops grooming and I pick it off. I’ll probably have to place some food in front of him while I brush him! I have a brush I bought for the bunnies, but we have some furminators for the cats. Would it be okay if I just sprayed it with vinegar and water then wiped it off so I don’t make him smell like cat? I’m gonna start prebonding soon and don’t want the other bun to think he smells like cat lol.

Oh I also don’t want to scare him when I pick him up. What’s the most gentle way I can pick him up to put him on a table? Or do you think I could just put some food in front of him on the floor outside his pen and brush him? He might hop away.
