I was researching bunny poop to see if my bunnos poops were healthy and learnt about megacolon. I highly suspect my bunny who died a year ago had megacolon. She had a lot of bad diarrheas through the years (she was four when she passed) and when we took her to the vet she’d lost half her body weight. She also had the typical large odd shaped poops and was spotted. I’m now freaked out because I realised my boy bunny (I have two girls and a boy, mama and her twins) has large and sometimes egg shaped poops! He’s 10 months now, and hasn’t had any other symptoms, but having lost one bunny this way, I’m terrified! He is fluffier than the girls and a bit of the oval shaped poos do have fur in them. Could the egg shapes be a result of ingesting fur? He is brushed regularly but seems to never stop shedding. He hasn’t lost any weight and isn’t skinny. He weighs about the same as mama, twin sis is a littler bigger. Any opinions on the poop in the picture?? I’m so scared he’ll get sick too.

Those look pretty normal to me, so I think the larger ones are prob from ingesting extra fur. They are almost all very healthy looking with just one that seems a bit larger, so that is a very good sign.

I understand the hyper-vigilance though, I had a foster with megacolon/cecal dysbiosis and it made me super paranoid about it.

Unless your bun has some other symptoms or his poops start changing dramatically I wouldn’t worry!

I agree with Dana. They look pretty normal to me. The larger ones may just have fur inside.

Thank you for your replies! It really calmed me down to hear that. I’ve been opening the larger ones up pretty actively and they do tend to have fur in them. He gets brushed several times a week but just never seems to stop shedding. Again, thank you so much!
