        Is it fine to just feed veggies in the morning or just at night? Or is it bad if they just eat them all at once? I’ve been feeding them veggies morning and night since I got the bunnies on Sunday. But I’m wondering if once a day will be the same. Or is it safer to do twice a day to make sure their digestive systems keep moving well? Let me know your thoughts!

          Either is fine but I’ve read that you have to be careful not to give them to many meals of veggies/ pellets a day so they will continue eating enough hay. 1 or 2 meals a day is perfectly fine just make sure they always have access to hay 🙂

            Either is fine, it’s basically your preference. I do twice a day because they just get so dang excited about it. 🙂

            I only do pellets once a day though.

              @Bu2005 Thank you!

              @DanaNM Thanks! 🙂 Yeah it is really cute lol. I’ve been doing pellets once a day in the morning. Is it fine if I give the pellets with all the veggies for the day in the morning?

                Should be fine. I have a friend who does that with her buns because she finds it easier.

                    Will feeding them morning and night prevent gi stasis? If I fed them once a day in the morning I’d be worried about them not eating enough hay. They aren’t eating much hay right now. I mix orchard grass and Timothy and they will eat a bit but they haven’t emptied their hay racks. I even put the hay rack hay back into the hay box and mixed it around and put in fresh hay. Still not eating much hay.

                      I don’t think it should be too much of an issue. If it worries you, you could stick to 2 times a day just for the peace of mind, but I don’t think it should be an issue so long as they always have access to hay. If you haven’t, you can try incorporating hay into toys or mix in dried herbs to encourage hay consumption. They may also start to eat more hay if they have less veggie meals.

                        Also I know most shelters near me if they feed veggies only do once a day and the buns are all doing well 🙂

                          @Bu20055 Thank you so much! I did put some hay in toys for them a couple days ago and they did eat a bit, so maybe I should keep refilling them!

                            That’s great! Hope it works. It’s funny how hard it is to get them to eat something so important. It’s like kids and veggies I guess 😛

                              @Bu20055 Yeah, everyone says they eat soooo much hay but I get excited when I see them eat a few pieces! I think maybe they enjoy the pellets and lettuce better. If I feed them once a day maybe they’ll go to their hay more often? 🤔 What if I sprinkled dried herbs or some little basil pieces in the hay rack?

                                They definitely enjoy pellets and veggies better. It’s like giving a child the choice between cake and salad lol. 😉

                                Yeah I’ve heard reducing meals helps with hay consumption. Some buns come to rely on veggies and pellets if they know they’ll have enough to fill them up. Dried herbs in the hay can help encourage them to eat more because of the more enticing smell and better taste. You can experiment with different herbs and see which ones they like best.

                                  @Bu20055 Thank you!! Yeah they’re probably just hoping I’ll keep giving them veggies and pellets lol.

                                      Many bunnies eat the most hay at night (esp morning and evening), so you might not see too much eating during the day, but then in the morning you should notice a decent amount gone.

                                      You might just keep an eye on them around dinner time (early evening) to see if they start tucking into their hay. Mine will get hungry around dusk and really start eating a lot of hay then. You could top up with some fresh and see if that helps around that time.
