        Hello!

        I saw these pellets online, and was put off at first because they use alfalfa. However, I realized that it shouldn’t be a problem when used in pellets as long as they have the proper nutrition. Now these pellets are EXPENSIVE and are about twice the price of most other brands. What intrigues me about them, however, is that they are grain and soy free.

        Has anybody had experience with these pellets? Did you/ the buns like them? How do they compare to other brands (Oxbow, Martin). Any changes in the buns when switching to this brand?

              I have used sherwood since bentley was 9 weeks old, he is now 2. We are currently on the sherwood timothy formula but was on the complete (Blue bag) for 1.5 years,  which is the timothy and alfalfa combined. I honestly have never had an issue. His fur is great and everyone always compliment him saying his fur is super soft and his poops are nice as well. However there was a post by ohio holland lop regarding the timothy formula and if you are intrested then you can check out thier post about it on instagram or facebook. I actually wanted to make a post asking if any one has had an issue with the Timothy formula lately.

                Okay thanks! Just curious- was there a specific reason why you switched to the timothy formula, or did you just want to try it out? Do you prefer the Timothy or the alfalfa one?
                I just checked out the page and I find it odd. I wonder how far into the bag they were?
                Have you been having any problems with it?

                  Bentley is not the best hay eater so I thought the timothy formula might be better for him. The only major thing I noticed is that he is not excited for the pellets. when I was on the Timothy/alfalfa, he would be so excited when it was pellet time but now he could care less. I give him one tablespoon in the morning and 1 at night but sometimes it takes him  the entire day to finish the morning portion. Other than that I have not really seen a differene. I might change back to the timothy alfalfa formula when I almost finish this Timothy bag just to see if I see any difference. But overall I have not had any problems per se. He did have stasis twice when on Timothy/alfalfa but that was during molting season  and once when he was on Timothy (not molting) and that only lasted a few hours. I don’t know if there was any correlation.

                  The timothy formulation was introduced maybe last winter so it is fairly new. They usually only had the timothy/alfalfa formula.

                    @BenBentheBun

                    Interesting. Just out of curiosity, how big is Bentley?
                    Hmm. I think I might use the timothy/alfalfa mainly because one of the main reasons I intend to feed pellets is kind of as a warning sign for anything going wrong (not finishing all the pellets when normally they do) and to make sure they get all the vitamins and minerals they need.

                    Did changing to the Timothy formula help hay consumption at all?

                      He is a holland lop and weighs about 2.7 ish lbs however this weight was from december maybe when we went to the vet for nail trims. You can’t see his ribs or bone but you can feel them so I always worry about him being maybe underweight. I also give him a small pinch of oats every couple of days. I came to realize he is more of a grazer. Even with this veggies he tends to just eat some and comes back for the rest another time. He is better with his dinner portions and eats those much faster. I use the sherwood papaya tablets and banana to test his appetite. If he doesn’t eat those then I start to worry.

                      During the time I switched him over to the new formula I actually found a hay brand he actually loved! so he ate much more then he did before. So I am actually not sure if the timothy formula help his hay intake at all haha

                      Also how do you do the @ thing on the top?

                        @BenBentheBun

                        Aww he’s an ity bitty fella lol.

                        He’s like my dad then haha. Leave out some food and it slowly disappears 😆

                        Gosh that’s funny. It’s hilarious how picky they are about the thing that keeps them alive. Like kids and veggies lol. Whether it’s the pellets or the hay brand glad he’s eating more now though.

                        Also to @ someone just do @ then the persons username (no space in-between). Took me a good while to figure that out haha.

                          I feed my bunnies Sherwood even though they have no problem with eating hay, because it’s the only grain-free rabbit food out there and I can’t feed them any wheat ’cause I’m allergic.  I buy the red bag, though, not the blue. I can’t really find a difference between them. My bunnies LOVE it, thought. I feed them twice a day. I even give it as treats! Also, when I got them, they were very scruffy and Benji was way too thin. Their old owner said she fed them Oxbow, but when I got them, I switched to Sherwood without any transition time. The bunnies loved it immediately! Benji now is a healthy size, although still a little more lean than his brother. They’re also much less scruffy. Sherwood works great for me and my buns!

                            The red bag would be the professional I believe. The fact that it’s grain free is the biggest appeal to me I think, because that’s more natural for them. I haven’t heard much about Sherwood but all that I’ve heard has been good stuff. I’ve heard that it really improves their poop too.

                            I think I want to use Sherwood but now I don’t know what kind to choose 😛 I might do the Timothy one cause I think  that’s the only one available from amazon. I can get the others from Hoponline but we get some monthly stuff from amazon already so I think that would be easier.

                            I’m glad your buns are doing so well on the pellets!

                              Both his parents were 4-5 lbs so I don’t know what happened lol.

                              I saw the blue (Timothy/alfalfa) on amazon yesterday! I am not sure where you are from so amazon might be different for you.

                                Hehe. He’s a little smaller than expected but he’s perfect nonetheless 😛

                                I just checked and amazon still only has the timothy :(. I guess I’m not going to feed all that much so I’d only have to order every few months. Plus it gives me an excuse to buy some more toys as well 😉

                                  I feed the Timothy only version, just a scant 1 tablespoon a day.

                                  I used to feed Oxbow adult essentials for many many years. I didn’t really have a super strong reason for switching, just thought I would give it a shot because the ingredients looked good. My kids only get 1 Tablespoon each (or a bit less), once a day. I did the transition very slowly. They go just as crazy for them as they did for Oxbow once the transition was done.

                                  Prob been feeding it for 5 months now? Everyone seems to be doing very well. All have very soft coats, and their pee doesn’t smell at all. I also noticed my senior bun seems to have better muscle mass, and my girls (who were a bit chunky) are at a healthier weight. Although the girls had come from the shelter recently, so they were a bit overweight just from not getting as much exercise.

                                    Just a update because I know many people feed sherwoods. Ohio holland lops just posted a lenghy post about the formulas after talking with David Sherwood, on their instagram and facebook. Apparently Sherwoods is planning on phasing out the alfalfa in the blue bags due to GMO concerns and there will be a new formula coming out.

                                    If anyone is interested, please check out her post. There is so mcuh more information that they are providing.  I just wanted to inform everyone!

                                      I haven’t talked with David in a while, but odd that they would phase out the “blue bag” because of the alfafa/GMO concerns since the blue bag is basically the same as the red bag except for the added timothy in the blue.  My buns were on the blue bag for years but switched to the timothy formula (green bag) after it was introduced.  We only switched after David encouraged us to try it with Moshi (acq megacolon).

                                          Thanks guys! Sorry I haven’t been responding, I was on a camping trip with my family and we didn’t have wifi. 😛

                                          I think I’ll use the blue bag because there’s less of a risk of over feeding (though I don’t plan on feeding many pellets anyways). I won’t be feeding it right away because the rescue I’m going to be fostering to adopt my bun from feeds martins pellets so I’ll be feeding those at first. I’m so incredibly excited! I’ve managed to get the whole family on board and my sister even started following the rescue. 😀
