I have an angora who has some kidney damage from e cuniculi and drinks a lot of water.  I was giving him water in a bowl, which was great from the POV that he could easily drink as much as he wanted.  But, unfortunately, I have found he gets a crusty mats under his chin from his angora fur getting wet.

I got a small dog water bottle for him (as it has a slightly bigger tube/ball), but he really has to work at it to get all the water he normally drinks. I tried a water bottle with a small vertical rod at the end of the tube instead of a ball (that the rabbit moves with his tongue to get the water), but he hasn’t taken to it.  I thought about a chicken waterer, but the bowls seem too big (so his under chin would get wet again). Do any of you have an idea of what I could try next? He normally drinks about 2 cups of water a day.

Maybe a taller bowl so not all the fur goes into it? Or if you’re home a lot you could wipe his chin after he drinks. Or, if you think it would help you could try trimming the fur on his chin.

Hmmm maybe very broad, shallow bowl?

Or can you trim his chin fur to help keep it clean?

Thanks for the ideas! I am going to try a small round cup that attaches to an upside down soda bottle (small perimeter, but always same water level–it’s for chickens, I think) as well as an olive tray for the narrow shallow option–idea being he can’t get much if his chin in either of these.  We’ll see how it goes!  The hair under his chin isn’t that long, but I think I have figured out that the matting is from hay dust getting caught in the damp fur.  It’s not right under his mouth, but (weirdly) about half an inch back that gets the matted crust after from drinking from the bowl.  Hopefully, one of these options will keep the under-chin from getting damp!
