        Hey guys!

I’m new to the forums but I love Binky Bunny. I’m posting to ask if I should be concerned about my buns? This afternoon and up until now Peaches has been pretty lethargic and not eating much at all. She did a bunch of poops at around 7 and I noticed 2 Cecotropes, which I’ve never seen in real life before. They appeared normal though (not runny or overly squishy). She ate a little bit of hay about half an hour ago and a couple pieces of romaine. Other than that she’s just been in a “bunny loaf” the whole evening. She seems pretty alert and honestly just seems tired, but I’ve never seen her THIS tired. There’s no teeth grinding and her stomach feels normal. I did have an incident a couple months ago where she might’ve had a block or gas and wasn’t pooping and was barely eating and this doesn’t seem to be the same thing. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do?

Definitely monitor her, if she is eating and pooping regularly, it may not be a huge concern, but if she is acting differently than normal I would definitely keep an eye out.

It could be a number of things, but definitely cause to pay attention. The lethargy is worrisome. It sounds like she is in some sort of pain. It could be gas, onset of stasis, or something else. The pooping and cecals are good because it means she isn’t blocked. Is she molting by chance? Have there been any chances to her diet? Is it very hot where you are?

Do you have any baby gas drops (simethicone)? My first action would be to give a tummy rub and some simethicone (as these wont hurt even if it isn’t gas), and keep offering her hay if she will take it from you.

You can also check to see if she’s dehydrated using the skin tenting technique. Grab a good handful of scruff behind her shoulders and pull a tent (don’t pick her up or anything!), and then let it go. If it snaps back slowly, she is dehydrated. You can try offering her extra wet greens if she will eat them.

The last question I have is whether there is an ER vet that sees rabbits anywhere near you?

              Two other questions:

Are you able to take her temperature?  And how do her ears feel, warm or cold?

A low body temp can indicate a rabbit in a low of pain and in danger of going into shock.

I am not able to check her temperature, but her airs do feel on the cool side. I’ve honestly never checked them before though so I’m not sure what’s normal?

She is not molting, but it is very hot where I am. I keep the house very cool though, but perhaps she did get hotter today? There’s also been no change to her diet. I have been giving tummy rubs periodically throughout the evening/night and it does feel normal, no hardness or protruding. I have tried giving her the baby gas drops in the past and she absolutely hates them:( I still have them though if you have any special ideas on how to administer them. She’s still been pooping and began nibbling on some hay, but she’s not eating enough to ease my mind. Unfortunately I do not have an emergency vet in my area that has rabbit/ small animal specialization, but I do have an amazing vet that is open on the weekend so I could take her first thing in the morning if need be.

On the topic of heat, how cold/hot is it in your house? We all have different ideas of cool which is why I ask. Buns are most comfortable under 80f and can get overheated over that.

I keep my house around 72 degrees, maybe fluctuating a degree or two. I dropped her off at the vet this morning though so I hope everything goes smoothly:( over the phone she didn’t sound too concerned, she said she most likely needed some anti gas medicine and some fluids
