I normally feed compressed bales of Timothy and my rabbits like it and eat a lot. I recently ran out and the feed store is taking forever to reorder so they’re eating a big box of hay. It seems like objectively “nicer” hay but that don’t seem to be eating more or anything, they already ate a lot. Anyhow the poops normally are normal fill of hay, crumble up the like they are supposed to but they’re normally a dark color, and with this hay it’s a much lighter brown. Just wondering if the color indicates anything? I could post a picture of the light poo but I don’t have any before poos.

Dark vs. light poo can be a result of less hay consumption, as well as more or less hydration, I believe. Thus, more hay typically means light, dry, more crumbly poo. If the poop is lighter brown as a result, it’s probably a reflection of their hay consumption. I wouldn’t be too concerned about it!

They ate hay all day before and it did crumble, but I think this hay looks nice so maybe it tastes better too. I think I might just keep feeding this although it’s quite a bit more expensive than the bales.  They just won’t be allowed to poop and pee on it as much 😀
