Hi! We unfortunately have to find a home for Bernard. She is the rabbit someone abandoned in our backyard and we love her so much but we have a cat so we can’t keep her. We just took her to the vet and it’s a girl but she’s not spayed. She also has some sort of parasite in her eye.
How can we find a good home for her? We love her so much so we want to make sure she goes to a good home. My plan now is to make flyers and put them up at local pet stores. Would it be best to spay her before we re home her?

We just to make sure she won’t be food!  Any tips would be appreciated!

          Hi @Bernard2020

I think it would be ideal if you were able to spay her and make sure she is healthy first. I also think it’s common for people to ask for a rehoming fee that at least partially covers the cost of the spay, which avoids someone taking her for snake food 🙁 . You might look into if there are any rescues in your area that could take her as well.

I do wonder about your comment about your cat though… many people have cats and rabbits together no problem. Are they particularly aggressive towards each other?

I’ve already emailed all the shelters near me and they are all full 🙁 My cat is a very good hunter. He brings home dead animals all the time. When Bernard was living under my shed my cat constantly chased him so now Bernard is terrified of him. I think I’d be too nervous to try to get them to get along.
