my rabbit ate a good chunk of a pee pad .. it was mostly shredded in his room he tore it out of my ither bunnies x pen.. she must have hopped and it slid out of place. I have always known him to be a chewer wich is why he does not get them in his pen. As i said it was shredded and looked liked it was chewed 🙁 the gel inside was definitely exposed… what should I doo?  Should I be worried? I feel like such a bad bunny ma ma

Uh oh! Don’t beat yourself up, bunnies can be very mischievous! Bunnies usually only ingest what they can swallow, so she might pass the little bits through, but definitely monitor your bun to see how they act. The best thing to do is to watch for any behavior that is unusual. The minute you notice your bun stops eating or pooping, then somethings up. For now, just check-in, and post any updates that are important.

I would encourage her to eat lots of hay and water to push any bits through and keep any eye on her for the next 24 hours or so. Definitely something to prevent in the future but as long as she didn’t eat a ton of it she will likely be able to pass anything through.

Updates: seems to be doing OK  👌 he is eating lots of hay drinking water and digging around in his litter box.. im thinking about giving him another handful of veggies to give him somthing else to digest .. i ended up putting a thin strip of cardboard so the pad can no longer slide:( i can’t belive this happened

He is acting normally, as long as he has hay and water, he should do great, and tomorrow morning when its time for breakfast could be a good time to see how she’s doing, if she doesn’t eat breakfast, something is probably up, but considering she is eating and drinking well, I think she is gonna be fine.

You can give him another handful of greens. Serve them freshly rinsed and dripping wet – that is a very good way to get extra water into a bun, and water is crucial for a smooth passage through the intestines.

Update: my baby seems to be okay I think it was just a little bit of a scare and because I’m such a paranoid bunny mom that I always just fear for the worst. You just never know what’s going to happen so once again thank you very much for all of the knowledge and advice that was given to me last night, it was definitely a very scary experience and I’m very happy that I had this form to gained some knowledge and talk to people that has been through the same thing so thank you again
