In my rabbits xpen, i made him a “mat” that is made of fabric with an opening to put a tarp inside in case of leakage or accidents. The open side has velcro, but isn’t completely closed. My bun has been digging at the edges, and I was wondering if it’s a possibility he could dig and get inside the tarp cover and possibly suffocate. If it is, how could I prevent digging?

Hmm, I suppose it’s possible. He could also start chewing and possibly eating the fabric/tarp eventually. You can try putting some heavy ceramic tiles in the corners, those usually work to deter digging.

If that doesn’t work, you might reconsider your flooring.  A lot of people like to use a piece of plywood with some peel and stick linoleum on top to protect it. Then if you want fleece you can clamp it to the wood over the lino.

Ok, for right now I placed a small wood log he likes to chew on the corner, but I will look into getting a ceramic tile. I also heard they are great for rabbits to cool off in the heat of the summer.
