        Hello,

I have a male Bun of which was a throwaway in the neighborhood.  So, I have no history on him.  I have had him for 4 years or so. he lives indoors in his own room. He is friendly except won’t let you pick him up.  He was an adult I am sure when I found him. Trimming nails by myself is not ever been fully achieved and I end up spending a large amount of money on a vet to do it. They won’t just trim them without a full vet visit.  I have been trying to trim slowly each day and am making progress.  But this morning I woke up to a bun with a third eyelid covering half his eye and watering.  Now the other one is watering and turning red.  Could this be from the stress of me trimming his nails?  It has never happened before.  Like I said I do not know the age of the Bun as he wasn’t mine to start with.  almost looks like cherry eye.?  I have never owned a rabbit so am unfamiliar with this. Any advice would be so helpful as I already have a 1500.00 estimate at the vet for my dog.

I’m sorry no one responded to you. How is your rabbit now? That is concerning and is most likely not purely stress-related. It sounds like some sort of eye-related infection or cranial condition impacting the eyes.

Also, is the vet you are taking the rabbit to a dog/cat vet?
