Hi, I have two bunnies, both netherland dwarf. One of them I just got recently, Alice, she’s still a baby. The breeder told me that Alice was 2 months old but she seems no where near 2 months since she was extremely smaller than my other one when she was 2 months. I’m extremely worried because Alice has a lump or bump on the left side of her stomach. I don’t know if it’s bloat or if it can be possibly something even worse. It feels a bit tight and it’s only on one side of her body. She’s still eating, pooping, and playing fine. She doesn’t seem to have an abnormal behaviors. Please help me try to identify what it is.

What do you mean by lump or bump? Is something actually protruding? Is it hard, soft? How big is it?

It’s not protruding but you can feel it like it’s a bulge or bump. It’s a bit smaller than a ping pong ball. It’s firm yet soft. I’m not sure if that makes sense

Hmm… did she eat a lot recently? Sometimes you can feel it when a bunny has a stomach full of food.

She eats regularly. She doesn’t seem to eat unless she’s hungry. If she’s full, would it only be on one side of her tummy?

Yes, you would likely just feel it on one side. Have you felt it again recently? It should become less noticeable as the food moves out of the stomach.

Considering your bunny is otherwise acting normally, I doubt it is gas or “bloat”. There are certainly other possible (more serious) explanations. However, she’s only 2 months old so my first thought was lots of food.
