Revolution is good, as S&L says. Some vets use ivermectin instead, it’s a shot and its bunny safe too. Revolution is a derivative of ivermectin.
Repeat treatment after about 3 weeks is recommended to kill mites that have hatched since the first round of treatment. 3 weeks is the time mites need to go from eggs to adult mites In severe cases, a third round is sometimes needed, but both Revolution and ivermectin are very effective against mites.
Rabbit mites can attack human skin, but they cant survive on us. They can cause an itchy rash though. How long the mites can survive in the environment is being debated, but it’s of course a good idea to try and clean the bun area, wash washable, freeze toys etc for 48-72 hours.
Sirius and Luna also warns about Fipronil in their post, so I’ll just repeat what they’ve said: Fipronil is deadly toxic to rabbits. It’s fine for cats and dogs though, but must never be used on buns. Its sold under many names, for example Frontline and Sentry.
