        Hi Everyone,

Not too sure if this is the right place to post this.

Opie has gone off his has ( oat hay) for about 4 days now so i went and bought some timothy hay and mixed it with his usual hay to see if he would be more interested but still not wanting it. He is eating pellets, veggies  and drinking fine been active still. I put him outside this morning while it was still cool but got a bit warm so bought him back inside, when i went to get him i noticed his poo’s and they aren’t like his normal ones, some a bit softer but his focal pellets aren’t looking the greatest. Is this possibly because he hasn’t eaten hay? Been a Sunday the vets have closed or are not open. I was thinking possibly he could have spurs but he doesn’t have any of the symptoms?

        I have attached some pics.

        TIA 🙂

He’s a cutie! The second picture looks like cecetropes. Having hay not in the diet make the gut flora become off and can be very dangerous for their health and the gi tract. Have you tried botanical hay, which is sweet? The 4th pic does look like soft poop. I would buy small bags of different species of hay- the easiest is oxbow since they sell small bags of like 5 kinds and see which he likes. I would suspect it’s some molar issues he’s having but also being off hay can cause him to feel sick too as his gut flora is off. My lop woulda still eat everything but hay when she had spurs so don’t think they have to stop eating everything. Has he also started to drink a lot of water? A lot of water intake can be a sign of spurs since their mouth hurts, they start to drip saliva out of their mouth and need to drink more to help replenish it and also the water helps soothe any soreness, just like when we have a toothache, the cold water helps numb the pain for a bit.
Do you have any critical care? That has everything he needs and can help firm back up the poops until you can get to the vet.

he is and his nature is so beautiful. Your four are gorgeous.
I thought he was been stubborn at first which he can but now after what you have said possibly not stubborn. I’ll try him on the bontanical hay, is that a hay they can eat all the time?
I did pick out pieces of hay tonight to give to him and the only piece he chose was the oat seed part out of the oat hay. I did notice last night and today he drank a bit more water then normal but I thought maybe because it was quite warm he was drinking more, as for saliva he doesn’t seem to have any.
Is that the oxbow Critical care? I don’t have any but I will get some it would be good to have on hand too. I’ll be taking him to the vet tomorrow to have everything checked out.
I should add he is 8 months and weighs 1.5kgs I think roughly (3.3) pounds. He hasn’t lost any weight either.
            Thank you for your reply.

Thank you! Yes it can be fed all the time, I know some buns hate Timothy and other kinds so they have to feed other kinds of hay. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. And Ed its oxbow criticalcare. You can buy on amazon and have it in 2 days with prime. Let me know how the vet visit goes!

Sorry it took so long to reply has been full on the last few days. So it turns out Opie is fine nothing is wrong thank goodness.
He is just been stubborn and still likes the oat hay and is liking the Timothy hay too, just that for some
Reason he would like to be hand fed the hay ? so I don’t know how this happened but he’s eating it again.
Thank you so much for all your replies
