This summer I’m getting a rabbit and I’m wondering what I should feed it. (I’m thinking I want to do a non-pellet diet, I will be rescuing an adult rabbit).

I have no idea what I should feed it. Could any of you let me know what I should feed my rabbit (beyond the description of “leafy greens”), or let me know what you feed your rabbit so I can get an idea of what to feed it.

Also, whats the difference between a rabbit and a bunny? Are they the same thing?

        Thank you!

Where are you getting him from? A shelter or a house? They might already be on a certain diet. Hay (not alfalfa as he’s an adult but Timothy or Bermuda) should be 85-90% of the diet and then veggies (green leaf, romaine, celery, little kale, nothing sugary like carrots )
10% and pellets can be <5% as they are just a supplement. If he is on a certain diet and you want to change it slowly to what you want, over a week to 3 weeks so no tummy upsets.
Rabbit and bunny are same thing hence the name “bunny rabbit”.

I want to add since a lot of new owners don’t know the costs of a bunny, are you financially dependent, as when buns get sick they can cost a pretty penny and many parents don’t like to pay for their kids bunny. And you will need to find a rabbit savvy vet as regular vets can’t treat bunnies like cats and dogs

Orchard and oat hay are fine too, not just timothy and bermuda
