Tutu’s flooring is carpet covered by high quality fleece. Last year her hocks were pretty close to become sore hocks. If you move away the fur, you can still find kinda far pink bald strips. But they don’t seem to bother her as much. She is a senior bun so isn’t very active. She still binkies about no more than once a week.

Besides all fleece flooring I also provide her a few memory foam mats on her favorite resting spots. Now here comes the question. I’ve recently got 2 types of memory foam mats:

        1. Super soft microfleece surface. But maybe the memory foam is too high quality, it’s quite thick and hard. Tutu is a dwarf weighing only 3 lb. she doesn’t really sink when she is on the mat.

        2. Not as soft surface but still made of polyester (same material as microfleece). But the foam itself is not as hard. Tutu’s hocks can actually sink.

        Which one would you prefer?

If option one is hard, then it could be comparable to the regular floor without padding. I would go with option 2.

I personally use 3in foam rolls from Walmart in the sewing section and put fleece ontop for my buns as one is 10 pounds so she needs padding and they sink in but it doesn’t seem to have negative effects on the hocks. Once hocks have become sore, the hair won’t grow back so it’s about maintaining how they are so they don’t get worse.

I would go with the one that her feet sink more in. I’ve always used the mats from Bed, Bath and Beyond but my buns were a bit bigger. Those ones are quite thick.

Yes. They are from bbb too. Thank you. I will let her use the softer ones.

That makes sense. I will keep the harder ones for myself.
