I never thought I’d have to post on here especially with her being so young (she was 5). I really want to know what happened, I’m heartbroken. 4 days ago she stopped eating hay and would only eat pellet mash. We took her to a rabbit savvy vet and they found out her jaw was swollen on both sides, which usually means tooth problems. They examined her but she needed to be put in twilight for a full-examination of her mouth and surgery if need-be, so we made the soonest appointment they had open (which would be a week later), and they prescribed me metacam for pain.
They examined her in the back room which I thought was strange, and I’m assuming listened to her heart. But she didn’t suggest x-rays.
Lionel only got worse. First she’d eat critical care on her own, but the next day she turned her nose up at it and I had to syringe feed her every 3 hours. Then on the third day she wouldn’t even take the feedings and would just let the food fall out of her mouth. I assumed she was turning food away because of being in pain from her teeth, and told myself if I kept food in her until monday (her surgery appointment) she’d be ok. Today I woke up at 7am to the sound of her thrashing, it almost looked like a seizure. She kept falling over and kicking her legs, and minutes later she was gone. I just have no idea what was wrong with her and can’t help but feel like it was my fault somehow. Was it an aneurysm, a heart problem?
It just doesn’t feel real. 5 days ago I took a silly photo of her scaling my bed. She was my first bunny and had so much personality.
