Hi everybun! So Ollie has been shedding for MONTHS like I swear I think it’s been since November and I’m so sick of it!! His hairs have been getting in my eyes every day since, all over my clothes and furniture. He is shedding SO much fur?
Is it normal for it to be going on this long, in your experience? I just can’t wait for it to be over but it seems never ending. I try brushing him as much as he’ll let me but it doesn’t help much :/

Rabbits shed at all times, like other animals. Do you mean Ollie is moulting? Moulting is like extreme shedding lol. My male has regular moults and doesn’t shed too much in between but my female, oh my goodnes I don’t know how she isn’t bald! She moults for ages but in between moults, she sheds a lot too. It does get everywhere and can be frustrating!

Is he ingesting a lot of fur?

Yes he’s moulting!! He’s been moulting foreverrrrr and it’s so much! Like any time I carry him my clothes are COVERED in fur. He’s probably ingesting it too. My vet said to get him the papaya treats from oxbow to help with the fur he might be ingesting I just want it to end already, before the moult he never shed one bit of fur. Just once when he was younger but it only lasted a few weeks because it was shedding season. Now it seems like he’ll never stop

Unfortunately it’s not very uncommon with very long molts/sheds in rabbits. It’s very common in warm climates but can occur in cold climates as well. My Bam had some long melts- his melts started on his face, and I remember how it just started over again on his face when I thought it was finally over ?

Bam was a normal-haired bun, so I could use a lint-roller on him after each grooming g session. It helped a lot and he didn’t seem to mind it. It reduced the amount of hair that would fly around and get into everything. It wouldn’t work with a long haired bun though.

Ollie is a normal haired bun too! The one in my photo isn’t ollie, it’s toby (lionhead), another rabbit that now lives with my mom. Ollie is a holland lop so I’ll try your trick!

I use the hair buster comb I bought on this site for my Holland Lop, also I don’t know if your bun will allow it but mine loves when I vacuum her with a small hand vacuum. I also use the lint roller, I comb her every evening, she hated it a long time ago but now she loves it, when I lay on the floor and wave her comb she comes running to me. I use the Sherwood Papaya tablets, my bun loves them, I put them in her pellet bowl.
