My bun has been doing this strange thing ever since I adopted him a little over a year ago. He behaves normally (plays, lays around, eats, drinks, etc.) and then he, all of the sudden, moves to a corner, stands as tall as he can possibly get on his hind legs, front legs stretched up against the corner walls and then he just jumps (sometimes he doesn’t, but then he just stands there). Afterwards he moves away and continues doing normal things again. He has plenty of space, he has toys to play with and he’s completely healthy. Does anyone know what this is or if it’s just a weird quirk?

My buck does something similar. He doesn’t hop but he likes to go to the corner of his room and stretch up like that. He looks up and seems to be looking around as though he’s looking for a way out but clearly it’s a solid wall. I just figure he’s trying to get a stretch in and could be making sure he’s not missing a way out. Maybe your guy is doing the same but is trying to get some more height to be especially diligent that he’s not missing an escape route.

I will say by buck did try and hop a pen that was covering a corner and he hit the wall so I’m not convinced they can always tell what is solid. My doe has never done anything like it.

Thanks, that actually makes a lot of sense

Wick does this, most commonly to assess if he feels safe to pee there though, haha. Perhaps it’s an instinctual pull to check the surroundings before relaxing fully?
