“Hay” everyone, so there has been a huge snowstorm where I live and I haven’t been able to get out to get Pebbles some more hay. I really only have a handful left, and I expect that I won’t be able to get hay for about 3-4 days. Will he be ok? I do give him pellets, which I can give him some more if needed to substitute for the hay. Of course, he has lots of water, and I give him lettuce every morning for breakfast. Will he be ok for a few days without hay?

He needs to have food in his tummy at all times. Do you have any grass you could cut?

It’s not at all good for a bun’ tummy to be without hay. If you know someone that has Guinea pigs or rabbits near you, maybe you could borrow some? You could perhaps ask in local Facebook rabbit groups?

Thank you guys for responding. I don’t really have any grass around that I could cut, because it is all frozen and covered with snow. I do know someone who has hay in their barn, but I could just get it from the ground, and it would be about 6 months old (bugs!!!). I could give him extra greens and pellets if that would help.

The problem with giving extra greens and pellets is that you’d need to feed them so often so his tummy is never empty and that many greens and/or pellets could cause serious gas.
