Not sure how long it’s been going on, but lately I’ve noticed my rabbit’s nose twitching fast. It seems to occur during the day (his rest/sleep time) while he is inside his cardboard tunnel, where he normally sleeps. The room doesn’t feel hot, also I don’t think he would be stressed since this is usually his most relaxed time of day. What could be going on? One thing I’ve considered, could it be he finds it more difficult to breathe while inside the tunnel? There are no holes or vents, but the openings are fairly large on each end. I’m not sure what to do because he absolutely LOVES his tunnel, he seems to prefer it over any other hidey house I’ve given him as a place to relax and feel safe. So I’d hate to take it away unless it’s truly harming him.

Some bunnies are just quick to wiggle their noses. Have you tried “wiggling your nose” back? I find that if I do it slowly my bunnies will slow down in response. I wiggle mine by trying to curl my upper lip under my teeth (if that makes sense).

No worries! It’s normal for a bunny’s nose to twitch really fast. Bunnies breathe fast, even when they’re relaxed. My bun will twitch his nose then move his head towards me and his nose will stop twitching for a second while he gives me attitude, then goes back to normal LOL. If anything he could be getting more exercise than normal. It could be a problem when you feel an irregular heartbeat or there’s sneezing involved. A good bunny parent is one who notices even the small things (:

Both Panda and Fernando are very active nose-twitchers, whether they’re doing something or relaxing. They always wiggle their noses more actively whenever I come nearby, and I reply in turn, after which their wiggling slows down like clockwork. I personally like to see it as their engaging in conversation with me.

I’ve tried staring at my bunny to see if his nose twitch slows down when I see him breathing fast. Usually it does. So I wouldn’t worry about it too much
