So I’m planning on completely redoing my c&c cage. It currently has a hardwood base, which I know isn’t good for their feet. I’ve tried using vetbed to line the cage but one of my buns is obsessed with chewing it. And she also won’t use the litter tray always so the wood has absorbed a fair bit of wee now.

I was thinking of making the base of the cage out of ceramic tiles, but would want to glue the tiles together to prevent any accidents. I came across a glue called ‘eco bond’ which claims to be pet safe. Has anyone got any experience with it or any suggestions of a glue product safe for use round my buns? I would be covering the tiles with memory foam, waterproof toppers and fleece, seeing what works for them

Can you glue the tiles onto plywood or some wood that is thin? Then you can glue the backs of the tiles together and not worry about the buns being able to get to the glue. I would imagine that if you can’t, then you can glue them together and leave the tiles for a couple of days to fully dry and then there should be no issue for toxicity for them

Hardwood isn’t bad for their feet, wire is, but hardwood is fine. Most buns just don’t prefer sliding on it is all. You could use a few bath mats. There’s plenty large ones on Amazon that are definitely bunny proof.

Ahh, I thought hardwood wasn’t ideal for their feet. One of my buns has just got sore hocks, but never noticed any of my buns having it before now. The main issue with wood is that one of my buns doesn’t always use the litter tray, so the wood has absorbed loads of wee and it’s becoming a nightmare to clean, so thinking the tiles is more hygienic.

I’m planning on covering the base in either memory foam with a waterproof topper, blankets, vetbed, just whatever she decides not to chew as much and can be easily cleaned in case of accidents.

Thanks for the advice guys, hoping to get the cage revamp started now. Was just worried incase there was an issue with glue
