Its been  bit cold outside lately, so I was thinking I might add newspaper to the bun’s bedding in addition to their hay. I looked it up, and did not really get a clear answer as to if it was 100% safe or not. They will definitely chew on it if I give it to them ( I think they would chew a rock if I put one in there lol). Just want to be completely sure that it is safe before I give it to them.

Yes, the non-glossy pages are safe. The rescue in my town makes mats for their buns out of it.

Do the bunnies at the rescue eat the paper (actually chew and ingest it)?

I’m sure they eat some. All modern newspapers are made with non-toxic soy-based ink.

Im not sure if you use hutches or other habitats, but Ive always thought this looked like a great idea. http://www.therabbithouse.com/outdoor/insulating-rabbit-hutch.asp (Straw is a good insulator also).

I don’t know how much rabbits actually use the “sleeping area” of hutches. I knew of a pair that sit out on top of hutch rather then in it…

That’s a great idea! I’ll see if it will work with my setup.
Bunnies definitely do that. The hutch for my bonded bunnies is insulated (with actual housing insulation in between the inner and outer walls), and they spend 90% of their time sitting in the run. Where its open to the air. My other ones have big wood nestboxes filled with hay, and only one of the bunnies ever uses his. It makes me wonder why I spend so much time building them stuff.
