So for background, I adopted my buns Milo about four months ago, and he’s almost a year old now. I live in a pretty decent size studio apartment, and he has free range all the time except the bathroom because he just pees on my bathmat lol. He generally seems pretty content, he loves head rubs and asks for attention all the time and flops around in his favorite places and is generally adorable. Recently he got very curious when I was taking out the trash, and since I live in an apartment building with only a few units on my floor and it’s easy to hear when people are in the hallway or not and the garbage shoot is just down a closed hallway, I let him come out and follow me. Since then he loves exploring the hallway and has so much fun sniffing new things and running around like a goofball down this one long hallway. It’s adorable except I keep noticing this weird thing he NEVER does when he’s in the apartment. He’ll chatter his teeth constantly. It’s sometimes after he nudges my leg, which he goes pretty frequently in the hallway and I always stick very close by him and that seems to be for reassurance, and after he sniffs the carpet, so I’m not sure if he’s eating something? But I have carpet in my apartment too and he nudges me in my apartment too and he doesn’t make the teeth chatter sound. I don’t think he’s doing it because he’s in pain because he’s doing it while he’s sniffing and running around and binkying and generally seeming pretty happy and curious. But it’s different than his content, you just gave me my favorite veggie cilantro and are now rubbing the bestest spot on my head and cheek teeth grinding. I’m just trying to understand what he’s doing so any help/advice would be great!!!

Hm, it could be him just exerting his excited energy. Wick will chew to himself when he’s waiting for his veggies or a treat.

Are his eyes wide open like he’s startled?

That does seem like what it is!! I’ve just never read about bunnies doing that when their excited so was a little nervous. And yes! Eyes wide open, ears straight up and moving around to try to hear everything, nose going a million miles an hour haha.
