Hi everyone! Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I have had my bunny Hunny for juuuust over 1 year now and in that entire time just before two days ago I was not allowed to touch her without her running away to hide. Like seriously even looking at her for too long sent her scurrying away!! All of a sudden two days ago she jumped up on the bed with me to hop around like she usually does and I reached out to pet her and to my shock she actually let me give her a few pats on the head ? I was so in shock I didn’t test my luck any further! There was no gradual build up to this. She was always fine to be around me or jump on me to investigate if I had food, I just wasn’t allowed to even think about touching her lol.

So now she lets me pet her when she’s on the bed with me which is great! BUT, she is also like seriously going potty all over it as well. I can’t leave the room for a second or she turns it into her litter box. (They have a bunny condo that the stay in during the day that has plenty of room and they get to come out for run time in the evening after I get home from work) Which is annoying bc I know she knows better than that. I feel like we’re in a battle over who claims the bed and that’s why she isn’t running when I pet her now… she must really want the bed lol

Anyone have any idea why this good and bad behavior just popped up a couple of days ago? Any insight or shared experiences would be appreciated!

          Hi!
I didn’t see a mention of you having another bunny of just her? Is she spayed?
Do you have just her? If not? Then did you bond her and the other bun? Is there any new animals in the house? That can often disrupt litter habits.

She might just need to be relitter trained ( if only she is the only bun in the house), some buns like to forget litter habits for some reason.

Hi yes she is spayed, has been for almost a year and has a mate she’s been bonded to for about 6 months! Nothing really new has changed at all, no new animals and no issues with her mate. She doesn’t go anywhere other than my bed when I’m in it, but she’s kind of always had some territory issues with the bed when I leave for a weekend. I guess my real question would be her willingness to finally let me pet her. But only when we are both on the bed. Anywhere else and she still scatters… strange. ?
