  Hi all, im after some advice and wondered if you lovely people could help!
  
  I have a house bunny whos coming up a year old.
  The plan was to get him snipped this month, then when he’s no longer fertile bond him with a female bunny.
  
  However, last week my dog was PTS, and now Ghost isnt eating. He was quite quet last week, so he spent the weekend at the vets on medication, and has been sent home with medicines.
  He’s now eating salad, but still isnt eating his pellets or much hay.
  
  My question now is could these symptoms be because he’s lonely? Could I get a female but keep them separate until they’re both neutered, or will the hormones drive them both crazy?
  I dont want any accidental babies, so they would be kept separate, however i’d put their cages next to eachother so they can start bonding.
  
  Any advice would be greatly appreciated, im so worried about my baby. Him not being himself is killing me

  Sorry about your dog and now your bun <3 What a week for you.
  
  You can totally do that. Just make sure that the cages have some kind of barrier and are at least 6 inches apart. Buns can fight and mate through bars, and males can shoot their fishies a good distance. Since they’d both be un-neutered they’ll probably both be exhibiting similar characteristics. So poop/pee marking, potential aggressiveness (especially with adding a new bunny), humping you or other things, and grunting. Be prepared for the female a little more so than the male because females tend to be more aggressive and territorial than males. Not to say she’ll be a terror or that there can’t be a sweet angel girl during puberty, but they usually are the more problematic buns.
  
  After they’ve been neutered, you can swap them between enclosures for a good month. Don’t start any introductions until after a month because he will still be fertile, and it can take a bit for hormones to die down. After a month you can start sessions in neutral territory.

  Agreed with the above. Having said that, you won’t be able to speed date and that’s a bit of an issue in that your bonding may be more difficult. But I like the idea of getting your bun a playmate. And I’m so very sorry for the loss of your dog.
