Okay I took in 3 baby bunnies several months ago. I used Google and YouTube to determine their sex and we rehomed the male. Anyway, couple months later, one day I discovered a little nest with babies and we had the male neutered straight away and played away from Mommy. That was on the 22nd of November. So on Tuesday(18th December) the Mom started nesting and pulling out her fur. Took her to the vet and was told she is pregnant. Removed the now 4week old babies and the Mom has been nesting nicely. Anyway our neighbours have been having parties almost every night and are extremely loud and constantly run around thumping on the ground. Last night it was hectic and carried on until around 3this morning. I went to give them all water and food and cuddles around 5am and found the nest completely destroyed. No remnants of a nest or anything. The fur is even out the ‘nest’ area. Is this normal? I’m not sure what to do or if I should just leave her?

It’s possible stress has caused her to destroy the nest and begin building elsewhere. It’s also possible she was just experiencing a false pregnancy and the nesting was the last phase of that.

However, it’s safer to assume she is still expecting though and make certain she has enough materials to rebuild a nest. And enough nutrition to care for a second litter.

Are you able to move her someplace where the noise is less disruptive?
It’s important the 4wk old kits still have some access to her, just not 24/7 access. As they come off milk, the pH of their gut changes and they are quite vulnerable. They need to build healthy gut bacteria and they do that by innoculating themselves by eating the mother’s poop and cecal droppings.

I recommend asking some advice on http://rabbitsonline.net
as they have a dedicated sub-forum, the rabbit “nursery”.

Update. Mom has given birth! Same place she had her precious nest, just redid it. Super duper fast too

The male must have mated with her pretty much after she had the 1st litter, before you discovered them. This happened to a friend of mine also. Back to back litters with her original rabbits. Even though the male is now neutered, be extra careful as they can still be virile for a while afterward.

She sounds like a good mum despite her age. I had read they are not always. You have your hands full!!
