Hi guys! So my bunny, Ivy, got an ear infection at the end of October. We tried antibiotic treatment and it appeared to have cleared out, but she kept scratching her ears so I knew something was up. I took her to the vet last week and she said Ivy had quite a lot of discharge in both of her ears, so she said the best thing to do is to sedate her and flush her ears with something with saline. I was a mess, I was terrified of her being sedated, but it was quite alright. She recovered fast and was back to eating normally by yesterday evening. However, the vet said there still is a little discharge in her ears because she stopped flushing them when her ears got inflamed. Now, thing is, she is not scratching as much as she was before, but she started to shake her head, which she didn’t do before. I’m quite worried, what do you guys think? The vet took some ear swabs so we’re waiting for the results on that too, will probably put her on antibiotics as soon as we get the results (which I’m quite stressed about too, because I’m leaving on Friday and she’ll be at a Bunny Manor – a trusted manor, but still)
I’m also absolutely terrified of surgery
She’s a lop bunny and she doesn’t have any other symptoms besides ear scratching (and now head shaking) and yeah… Any thoughts?
