  Hi, I’m hoping somebody might be able to give some advice on our rabbits. We have a bonded pair of Mini Lops. The Male has been neutered, but the younger Female as yet hasn’t. In recent weeks she won’t leave the male alone, constantly mounting and scratching his back (he took bit a chunk of her fur in frustration today). Should I separate them in the same hutch until she is neutered? Thank you in advance.

  If the male gets really annoyed with her it could lead to serious fighting, so I’m inclined to say yes, separate them. Their future bond could otherwise suffer.
  
  They most likely won’t be happy about being separated, so keep a close eye on appetite and poop.

  If he bit a chunk it’s already getting aggressive. I’d actually have them in separate hutches so she doesn’t try to mount through the divider and so they don’t try to fight through it.

  Yes, as A&B says, thebarrier between the rabbit should not be a single layer of netting or metals bars, it must be something the buns can’t reach through to bite. Rabbit bites can cause considerable facial injuries, including injuries to the eyes.

  Thank you all for your advice. He has a very soft temperament, so he must be reaching the end of tether. I will divide their hutch with rabbit wire and see how it goes. Thanks again.
