        Hi all,

So I have two little bunnies who a year or so ago had repeated episodes of GI stasis. Because of this, I made sure to keep metoclopromide, Cispride, Metcam and ranitidine in the house in case of another episode. They’ve now managed to go nearly a year without a flare up which is great but means the medicine I bought for them is now out of date. Just in case they get ill again, I’d like to keep some stock of the medicine, so I need advice on the current out of date stuff I have. Do you think it will be okay to give them it and will it still be as effective? If yes then how out of date is okay?

        Thanks in advance!

I honestly wouldn’t risk it, but that’s me. I always throw their meds out as soon as they expire. They’re already sick, so why take the risk of making them more sick with an out of date medicine.

I agree. If meds are expired, sometimes they can decompose into toxic chemicals and it can hurt them. I know we always like to have meds on hand, especially with a history of illness but it’s best to just ask the vet for meds when they are sick instead of keeping so much of it
