On Tuesday evening griffin wasn’t eating. Even treats so I took him to the vets where he was hospitalised with them for two nights (he is very difficult to syringe feed at home). They put an Iv in him as he was dehydrated and gave him painkillers as his stomach was uncomfortable.

I had him back on Thursday night as he had been given the all clear. They said he had eaten a lot of kale and they were even struggling to catch him. So when I had him back I expected him to be like that. He bounced straight back from his last episode of stasis. He doesn’t move unless he has to. Hi poops are tiny and irregular and there isn’t a lot of them. He doesn’t tend to eat unless you put it in front of his face and even then he turns down almost everything. His nose isn’t twitching. He’s breathing slow and just seems really tired.lying down constantly. He went home with pain relief, antacids and gut stimulants.

Took him to the vets on Friday and said he wasn’t normal. Not drinking, moving, eating much or toileting much but she just said it takes a while to recover and he seems fine. She said that if I was worried about how much he is eating to syringe feed him. I told her that is way too much stress to him to get it in (even the vets only tried once).

Should I take him back to the vets? He’s not right but I don’t want to stress him out if he’s just recovering.

It is true some rabbits will take time to come back to having a good appetite. He may act wary given he’d been in the hospital and is receiving meds at home. But the lethargy does sound concerning. Do you have supplies to take his rectal temperature at home?

It’s possible there is an underlying issue that brought on the stasis in the first place.

His breathing doesn’t sound like a problem, imo. Slower breathing is more relaxed then rapid breathing. He could just be sleeping a lot if his nose isn’t twitching.
What are the name of the meds he has? Are they metacam, ranitadine (zantac) and metaclopramide (reglan)? Maybe one of those is not agreeing with him?

          Sending many {{{vibes}}} for Griffin.

Thanks so much for your reply. I don’t have a rectal thermometer at home but the vet checked it on Friday and said it was normal. I’m trying to keep my room warm.

He’s currently on metacam, zantac and emeprid. I also thought it could be a reaction to one of them but he’s had them all before when he last had stasis.

He’s eating a bit better this morning and seems a bit more alert but now he’s not eating all his cecotropes. I think as long as he is eating, I’ll leave it until Monday. I really don’t want to stress him out.

Fingers crossed he gets better soon.
