I have a new rabbit who has never had any chew toys for his teeth but I got some wood blocks, sticks and a something that looks like a ball of sticks all from pet smart and he hasn’t touched one. Is there anyway that I can get him to chew? I’m afraid that his teeth might get over grown .

Congrats! We’d love to see pics. You can get untreated willow or apple branches, my buns love them. Also, you have hay for him 24/7 right? Hay alone will keep the teeth down. What is his diet? He may be getting too much pellets and that makes him not want to eat other things. My buns actually don’t like toys unless it’s apple sticks to eat.

Hay is what primarily keeps their teeth worn. In regards to toys, he might just not be interested in the ones you bought and they might be a bit picky – my rabbits love willow toys but don’t care for willow sticks. They love apple sticks tho. It can take a bit of time trying to find toys that a bun will like so keep trying different things if you can. You can also diy some toys for him out of cardboard.

Maybe try rubbing some banana on it? make it seem tasty? and once he starts chewing, maybe realize he likes doing it. Apple sticks are good too (I always make sure they’re made in the USA… and I’ve found that some brands aren’t liked as much as others). Also try some willow balls… Our walmart has a pack of 3 different balls that my rabbit loves. he also loves willow wreaths and wicker wreaths that i can find in the craft section of dollar tree (and they’re cheap, considering they’re something that just gets torn up!)

^ ^ Just make sure if you’re buying willow (that isn’t specifically for animals), it isn’t coated in anything.

Bunnies tend to go for stationary things. Perhaps try attaching chew blocks to a larger piece that can’t be moved around easily would work. Otherwise, chew toys are overrated when it comes to keeping their teeth trim. Hay is much, MUCH more important.

Get one of those ikea beds. My bunny devoured mine so I bought a few as spares. It’s sad to see her destroy such a cute bed but at least her teeth are healthy right?
