My 3 1/2 month old bunny is not at all interested in eating cables. He’s free roam most of the time and is litter trained and extremely well-behaved. (The flat is fully bunny proofed except for internet, TV and phone charger cables).  Should I expect that he turns into a devil bunny and starts chewing and eating everything when he’s older, or am I just extremely lucky to have such a well-behaved bunny?

What are your experiences with this?

He only does one annoying thing …..

          Oh, he’s precious!

Some bunnies are not chewers, and that’s of course really, really great. But I would advice you to bunny proof all accessible cables, because bunniescan get ideas into their heads right out of the blue. My bunny Bam wasn’t a routine cable chewer but one day he just decided to chew off the Internet cable. Then he didn’t touch a cable for 5 years, until one day (International Pet Day, of all days!) he saw fit to snip off an IPhone cord.

Thin cables like charger cables are the most appealing to rabbits, but pose little or no danger. But bigger cables should be protected for the safety of both the bun and the house. Ikea has cable protector “tubes” called RABALDER. There are a variety of other types of cable protectors available.

Hahaha that photo is precious ?? I say you’re very lucky BUT buns can suddenly develop interest in things in the blink of an eye so still be cautious.

Ditto the others. Some bunnies are not that interested but will all of a sudden take a chew. I’ve heard sad stories of bunnies being electrocuted. Better safe than sorry.

You are very lucky in that! My little bunny chew about 6 or 10 phone chargers, earphones, laptop charger and i dont remember how many others ) I knew she does it and sometimes was just 1 second did not pay attention and i had 2 cables.
Now i have an extension cord crossing the living room (is really needed there), at first she did not touch it for days, i thought she feels the danger but later on i had to hide it in a cable protector because was close to the get electrocuted. Be careful! it is very precious bunny!

thanks for the replies. Feeling much better now I’ve got cable protectors and a cable box from Ikea!

My “well-behaved” bunny has now decided it’s great fun to steal a bag of treats and wear it as a hat. I spoke too soon.
