Hi everyone. We have a 7 month old Flemish Giant boy, Claude. He was neutered a few weeks ago. We are considering getting a kitten and wondered if anyone had experience introducing a kitten to a Flemish Giant. He currently weighs 10.5 pounds and he is definitely the size of a full grown cat. I know cats are obviously natural predators and bunnies are prey animals, but if the kitten was very young, would it learn not to prey on the giant bunny? I have seen plenty of photos of buns and cats happily coexisting but just wanted to advice from folks who have been there/done that.

Thanks so much for any advice!

I have three cats who get along just fine with my bunny, but in my case they were fully grown when I got the bunny and we’ve fostered small animals before so I knew it wouldn’t be an issue. I would actually be more worried that a kitten would be more likely to have conflict with a bunny because they are very rambunctious and love to pounce and bite as a way of playing, and you can’t train them like you would a dog. If it was me I would opt for an adult cat with an easy going temperament. Not to say you couldn’t make it work with a kitten, but having fostered a lot in the past I think it’s a lot easier to get what you want in a pet if you go with one that you already know its personality.
