So when Fitz was on his meds he got a small salad after each dose, which was twice a day. So that Magpie wouldn’t be jealous I gave her some too, but I started giving them more than a handful, and filling their bowls. Now that Fitz’ mess are done I tried to get them to one a day again, and Fitz doesn’t care but Magpie does…If she doesn’t get two salads she stays up at night (yes, she usually sleeps, lol I don’t know why!) and rattles her wire door, digs on her floor and throws the salad bowl down the ramps. And I can’t just give her a tiny salad and get by, same behavior unless it’s two full bowls of salad.

My question is, is that too much?
        The salad consists of
2-4 carrot slices ONCE a day
        1/4 cup kale per salad
2 cups collard greens per salad
1/8 cup cilantro (on occasion that we have it.)

The rule is 1 cup of total veggies a day per 2pounds of body weight. I would go easy on the kale and collard greens unless you see any major upset. I always do romaine and baby spring mix, celery, Brussels sprouts and carrots each day, but limit the sugary veggies.

Bunnies can’t really become overweight from veggies so in theory you can give as much as you want (the guideline is just minimum) If it’s impacting her hay consumption or causing tummy/poop problems, obviously cut back but othewise there’s no need

Ok, so does this sound like an ok diet?

                1/4 cup pellets
Total hay intake: approximately 1 1/2 times the size of her
Then the salads as listed above

Then 1-3 Oxbow treats on training days (not every day)

                Her poop all looks great!

I think that sounds fine. You can always experiment with cutting down the veggies if you’re ever worried she’s not eating enough hay but if she’s eating a pile that’s larger than her every day it sounds like she’s eating plenty!

I’m not sure about the oxbow treats tho, I’m not sure how big they are so 3 in one day in addition to the carrot slices might be a bit too much. You could always stop giving the carrot with her veggies and reserve those for her training treats (you could cut one slice into halves/quarters too so you can make her think she’s getting more ?)

                    Ok I can do that!
The treats are about the size of my thumb, but I’ll give her less of those ?
