I have had this bunny for 4 months. I put a cardboard hidey house in her pen. The door is always open for her to explore. I noticed white spots on her box & thought at first that maybe I just had not noticed them when I cut the openings. Yet I was fairly sure I would have seen them. The box is getting more white splotches since & tonight I noticed the same white spots on a heavy cardboard tube that holds her chew sticks. And the paper grocery bag that had her pinecones, which she emptied & now lays on has the same white spots.
She seems perfectly healthy. Is this just some residue she tracts from her pee?
Does anyone else notice such on their bunnies cardboard houses?

The most likely explanation would be calcium residue from her pee.

This could mean that the litter material in her litter box isn’t absorbant enough, so she she gets pee on her paws or belly and transfer it to the cardboard. What type of litter do you use?

I use news paper with a pee pad on top. I tried hay on top of that but she refused to use it until I removed the hay.

If she’s sitting directly on a pee pad or newspaper, which neither are that absorbent, yes it will get on her. You need something like compressed pine pellets or carefresh.

There are also paper pellets, but compressed pine pellets are probably the most economical.

I got the paper fresh and placed on top of her current potty arrangement. Sure did help cut down on the white spots!
                    Thanks for the help!
Going to look for the pine pellets next, they sound great.
