Hello again! More Zee news and troubles. My 10year old is constantly giving me worries these days, and this weekend was no exception. Oye…
So My husband walked out of the back room in our apartment and it spooked both of my rabbits for some reason. The girls ran very scared through the apartment. Our apartment has carpet, so it always makes that tearing sound when they run or binky. Anywho, after they were clear across the apartment hiding, Zee wasn’t putting weight on her front paw. It was very obviously injured (though not contorted) . When she did hop away, she was limping and everything. UInfortunately this happened after midnight, so I immediately put them away into their pen, and even closed off most of the pen so it is about 1/3 of the normal size so they CAN’T move around very much. (shes had a hurt paw before and the vet recommended making her pen smaller so she doesn’t move as much).
The next morning I checked on her and she was putting weight on it again. So at this point I figure it probably isn’t broken, but I do know how buns hide their pain very well. At the same time, she is eating, drinking, hopping in and out of her litter box, and even playing with her toys all perfectly normal. So with this behavior, I am assuming it is more of a sprain or twist from the spook the other night. We really can’t afford an unnecessary vet visit, so I have kept her in her small pen ever since. I figured I’d give it about a week of small pen time to help it heal. The injury happened Thursday night and today is Sunday. Still acting normal, eating and playing right, and still putting weight on her paw, but very occasionally has it lifted.
What do you all think?
